Jim came to me from Erdigg Hall in Wrexham (a National Trust property) where he’d given carriage rides to the public. Jim was a ‘tricky’ character at first, terrified of everything and head shy but also knowing his own size which made things awkward. However, Jim is easily won over with sweets.

I’ve broken Jim to ride and he now loves life! He’s grown in confidence and is a firm fixture within our herd. Jim can be quite a loner but is also capable of looking after the youngsters and new members of the herd. Jim will live out his days at Waterfall Shires and nothing more than the odd ride is asked of him, he will never be ridden by anyone but myself as he hates getting things wrong and becomes quite upset if he feels that he’s let his rider down – Jim takes a lot of understanding but can be a lot of fun!
